The documented history of Islam in the Republic of Ireland dates back to the 1950s. The number of Muslims in Ireland has increased since the 1990s,[2][3] mostly through immigration. For the 2022 Irish census, 81,930 were counted within the Republic of Ireland.[4] There are around 12,000 Muslims within Northern Ireland.[5]
